- Priced by
- per named service, adjusted for the vehicle, and constrained by what can be done safely on a driveway rather than over a ramp
- What moves it
- the same drivers as a workshop service — which service it is, engine size and class, age and mileage deciding what is actually due, fuel, and condition — plus two that only a mobile job has: whether the work is FEASIBLE without a ramp, a lift or a bench, which rules out some jobs entirely rather than pricing them higher; and where the car will be, because a level private driveway is workable, a camber or a busy street is slower, and some work cannot be done roadside at all
So that the price is for your job rather than an average, you'll be asked about:
What's the job — a service (interim, full or major), something not right you want looked at, or a repair you already know you need?
An interim, a full and a major are three different jobs with three different parts lists — which one you need sets the price before anything about the car does.
What's the car — make, model, year, and the engine if you know it?
Parts, oil grades and labour times differ from car to car, so nothing prices accurately without this.
Roughly what mileage is it on?
When was its last MOT, and were there any advisories on it?
If it's a service — do you have the service history, and when was the last one? If something's not right — are there any warning lights on the dash, and what are you noticing?
A known history means less diagnostic time and fewer surprises; a warning light points the work at the fault rather than at a guess.
Where will the car be parked — a private driveway, or on the street? Some jobs need the car up on a ramp and can only be done at a garage.
A photo helps more than anything else — it means the price is for your actual job rather than an average, and it saves the provider a wasted visit.
How our pricing works — what every price is built from, and why the same job costs the same for everyone.
How booking mobile mechanics works
This is work that's booked in properly — you pick a day and time that suits you, and the provider comes with the job already scoped and priced.
The price is set before you book
We work the price out from real market rates for the work, and you see one figure before you commit to anything — not a spread, and not a number that moves once someone is standing in your hallway.
The same job costs the same for everyone
Providers can accept the work or decline it, but they cannot change the rate. Nobody is quietly paying more than their neighbour for the same job, and there is nothing to haggle over.
Your money is held securely by Stripe
Payment is taken by card and held securely by Stripe. Nothing reaches the provider until the job is done and you have confirmed it.
After the work is done
When the provider marks the job complete, you have 23 hours to look it over and either confirm it or tell us something is not right. We say clearly when that window opens and when it closes. If you do not say anything before it closes, the payment releases to the provider automatically.
If something is wrong, raise it from your booking page inside that window. We will look at the record and help you and the provider find a way forward — and your payment stays put while that happens.
