SigeByte prices the job, not the hour.
How a price is built
When you tell Wilbert what you need, the price is built from three simple things:
The going market rate for that trade in your area
Fair local rates for the trade the job belongs to.
The size of the job
Rooms, area, number of items — the amount of work actually involved.
What makes it harder than average
Removing the old tiles before laying new ones, an uneven floor, a property bigger than the label suggests.
Materials matter too — porcelain doesn't price like ceramic. Where a job needs them, they are part of the price rather than a surprise at the end.
The same job costs the same for everyone
No haggling. No quotes that grow halfway through. The price you see is the price you pay, and no provider can charge you more than that. Providers cannot set, negotiate or inflate their own prices, and nobody can pay for a better price or a better position.
Photos make prices sharper
If you can tell us sizes — or just send a photo — we price your job, not an average one. If you can't, we price a typical job of that kind and your provider confirms the details on arrival.
If the job turns out genuinely bigger than described, any change is agreed by both sides in writing before it happens — never sprung on you.
What that looks like
Two examples of the same idea — the price follows the job in front of you.
A house clean
Two homes with the same number of bedrooms can be very different jobs. These are the things that separate them:
Flat or house
Stairs, hallways and landings are floor area that a room count never shows.
How many rooms, and which
The whole place — kitchen, living room, hallways — or only certain rooms.
Inside the oven
A job of its own, and priced as one rather than folded in.
Inside the windows, skirting boards
Detail work that adds time rather than area.
Moving furniture to clean behind it
Changes how long the same square metres take.
A tiling job
Tiling is priced from the surface and what has to happen to it before a tile goes on:
The area, and its dimensions
Square metres, or the wall and floor measurements.
Tile type
Porcelain doesn't price like ceramic, and natural stone is different again.
Removing the old surface
Taking up old tiles first is work before the work — and what's underneath has to be sound.
Awkward cuts
Pipes, sockets, a shower tray, a window reveal. Each one is slow.
Wet areas
A shower needs tanking and waterproofing before it can be tiled.
A garden tidy-up
A tidy-up is priced by the size of the garden and how far it has gone — an overgrown garden is a different job from a kept one:
The size of the garden
The ground to be covered, not the size of the house attached to it.
How far it has gone
Months of growth is a different job from a fortnight's.
What's included
Hedges, borders, edges — each is its own piece of work.
The green waste
Taken away, or left bagged for you. Removal is priced as part of the job.
Tree surgery
The tree sets the base, where it stands moves it, and what happens to the wood is part of the price rather than an afterthought:
Size and height
This sets the base before anything else is considered.
Access
A tree over a conservatory is not a tree in an open lawn.
What happens to the wood
Chipped, logged, or taken away — priced as part of the job.
Whether the tree may be protected
If it might carry a preservation order or sit in a conservation area, that is checked before anyone quotes.
Tutoring
Tutoring is priced by the hour, and the level does most of the work:
The level
The main driver. Exam-year work costs more than primary.
In person or online
In person costs more than online.
How long the session is
A 90-minute session is priced by its length, not as a flat fee.
Your money is protected
Payment is held securely and only released when you confirm the job's been done right.
Common questions
- Why don't you charge by the hour?
- Because per-job pricing rewards fast, good work. When the meter runs, you pay more for a provider who takes longer — which is exactly backwards. You agree a price for the job, and the meter never runs on you.
- How do you know the market rate?
- Prices are set by our own technology from fair local market rates for each trade, adjusted for the size and scope of the job you describe, urgency where it applies, and materials where they are included. How that technology works internally is our own and stays confidential. If a price significantly affects you, you can ask us about it and request a human review.
- Can the price change?
- Only by written agreement between you and your provider, recorded before the extra work happens. If a job turns out genuinely bigger than described, the new scope and new price are put to you and you have to accept them first. Nothing is ever added afterwards.
